Default Did someone get a bargain?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=006
    (360 Spider F1, '03/52, 24k, nero/nero, sold for 52k)

That's a tidy 19k less than I paid for my '03 360 spider last October. And at the time, I thought I'd done well. OK, this one has more miles than mine and standard seats instead of CF, but even so...

Is the market really this badly down?

My problem is that I am toying with getting out of my 360 and back into a 2+2; at 50k that's not going to happen, though.

I would never use ebay prices as a guide. You never know whether the sale actually goes through or not, or indeed whether the auction was actually genuine.

Sure, but apart from 'real' auctions, they are the only instance where you see the actual closing price, rather than the asking price.

The 'spread' of prices used to be pretty straightforward for luxury cars - certainly I could price Porsches with what I thought was reasonable accuracy. Now the price of 360s seems to be all over the place - if you compare eBay, forum for sale ads, autotrader and dealers, an 03 spider with <20k miles is worth anywhere between 50k and 80k. A 30k spread is way more than is accounted for by warranties, VAT and margin.

I wouldn't want to sell for too little (or buy for too much), or conversely sit around with an overpriced car that never sells. So how does one price a car up in this market?

I doubt that would go through at that price.
Why would someone sell for a lower price than they can drive into a ferrari dealer and get cash for the car ?

I not sure you would get a better price from a dealer.

Not a good time to be selling at the moment

Because the vast majority of dealers have currently misplaced their chequebooks......and aren't in a hurry to find them!
