The fact of the matter is that the committee has been making exhaustive enquiries behind the scenes to try and establish the facts relating to the company in question. Once those facts were established it was our intention to make them known to the members. However, this post has pre-empted that and we canít really stop members commenting on rumour.
With respect the comapany in question's solvency is not the only point. Surely the committee does know whether the company in question is a sponsor or not. Surely then the membership should be informed when a company ceases to be a sponsor - for whatever reason. This is as much for those companies that continue to support the site - as a company should not be seeing any benefits from perceived sponsorship if it is no longer supporting the club. Nor should the membership be buying goods from companies they think are supporting the site when they are not.

Mal, previously we have had several sponsors leave CS in the past for various reasons and have not announced the termination of sponsorship deals. We have just removed the banners and links from the sponsorís profile and signature and treat any promoting of their business within their posts in the same way as other non-sponsors. For example fgear.tvís sponsorship has recently ceased. We did not announce it and have seen no outcry over this.

For the record, I can confirm that Scuderia Sales and Spares are no longer a sponsor. Their previous 12 month sponsorship deal was paid up until 10th April and they did not request to renew it. We removed the sponsorship banner on 19th March pending inquiries into the rumours that were surfacing on the internet.

Thanks - I am happy with that although in future I think it would be useful if it was made clear when a company ceases to be a sponsor.

Fair enough. We can put a note in the announcements forum when a sponsorship deal expires and is not renewed.
