    Default F430 Engine component identification

    Hi Guys,

I was poking around my engine bay as you do and I noticed a component that looked like it was wet or had some kind of fluid on it. Reason for the post is to identify the part and weather or not the reason it looks the way it does is just due to water/muck from the road getting into the engine bay or if something is leaking either from it or onto it. Pics are below, I think it's the starter motor but hoping somone who knows can confirm and tell me if something looks off.

    Thanks guys.

    John.

Thanks Graham, I was actually looking at the diagram last night but not being sure where those items were located wasn't 100% sure it was the starter, so one question down

Now anyone know if the fluid marks are a problem?

    Thanks guys.

Isn't the car under warranty ? Just get hour dealer to sort it and take away the worry

If you can get in to clean it up,do so with some brake cleaner when the engine is cold....then take it for a run and monitor the suspect area...
