Previously, Id been shifting straight from 1st to 3rd until the box warmed up but this meant car would struggle a bit in 3rd etc so not satisfactory. Then I wised up and started ignoring 1st gear and always setting off in 2nd until box warmed up - still not ideal but better than 1st to 3rd shifts.

Well I'm pleased to say that now seems a thing of the past :-) Set off in 1st and no problems getting into 2nd. To be fair there was a slight feel to it when going from 2nd to 3rd when the box was cold but now when I drive the car I dont have a nagging doubt in the back of my mind - is it going to go in gear :-( Made the car much more enjoyable to drive! :-)

How are you getting on with that Shockproof gear oil? Ive had my NS GL5 sat here for a while but not sure what to do? From literature I see its a 70w-75 compared to the 75w-90 recommended.

Still working fine an no complaints. Why dont you just go for it since youve bought the oil already???!! :-)

Hi Jeff. Ive got the redline 75w-90 NS sat here. Wondering whether to go for the lightweight shockproof version you used

Sorry, had a long day so not paying attention! LOL

I ummed and ahhed and replaced the original gearbox oil with the "correct" oil which made no difference so changed it again with the "yellow stuff" and there was a noticeable improvement.

Just my own personal thought... if your gearbox is "sticky" when car is cold but improves once it's warm then the different oil will help.

Thanks for the thread. I've had my car just over a year and it could be my car that is being done. Spent the night reading through the first 80 pages, almost everything done has been or needs done on my car. Great stuff.

Thank you. I'd better get on with it then! LOL

I've done a lot more since and bought a stack of parts which I am hoping to get round to fitting soon!

Hi Jeff, good to see the car still going strong, you've made some massive improvements over the years.

I was talking to John at MACarbon recently and mentioned the carbon sill covers still looking good 12 years later, he was pleased to hear it.

Keep up the good work, thanks for posting, it's really good reading.

I will start a thread on the 308 soon .....

    Cheers, Nick.

You can feel the lip on the pipe so just make sure the clip is on the right side of the lip
