Default The Supercar Event (Dad's Day Out) at Dunsfold June 2012

MODS. PLEASE LEAVE IN THE "MEETS" SECTION WHERE PEOPLE CAN EASILY FIND. THANKS

Time has come to open the thread for owners who are interested in taking part at what is possibly the “supercar highlight of the year”, formally known as Dad’s Day Out, but now re-branded as:

    The Supercar Event

As a group, Club Scuderia have been associated with The Children’s Trust, Tadworth www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk since 2006 when we first ran a small fundraising event from the Trust site which we continued in ’07 & ‘08. From 2009 we secured use of the Top Gear track at Dunsfold, and this is where we are returning in 2012 for a 4th time.

What’s new this year is the event is being spread over TWO days of a weekend! Therefore those who usually can’t make a Saturday or Sunday due to other commitments (or the FA Cup a Final as last year) should all be able to attend.

Because it’s now a two day event, we need almost twice the number of cars (though many will want to drive on both days). So we are looking for a total of 200+ cars.

These cars will be made up of a high proportion of Club Scud members, and the committee have again confirmed it will be making a donation on behalf of the members.

We will shortly be emailing those who have driven before and offering them a guaranteed place at the event. For those who would like to apply to take part this year and haven’t driven before, please email Pete (yellowtr) at: thesupercarevent@live.co.uk all we need at this stage is your forum & real name, car type, and preferred day. (see below) This is however an “invite only” event, so not a first-come-first-served arrangement.

Facebook & twitter links below. Please “share and re-tweet” as often as you’re able to help spread the word.

    https://twitter.com/#!/@thesupercarevnt

For those not familiar with the format of the day, you drive your car around the Top Gear track for three laps with a passenger who has made a donation to The Children’s Trust. Do as many rides as you and your car feel comfortable with. As an estimate, most drivers give 10 – 15 rides throughout the day.

The options open to you this year is as follows:

    1. Saturday & Sunday
    2. Saturday only
    3. Sunday only
    4. All day (any of 1, 2 or 3)
    5. a.m. only (any of 1, 2 or 3)
    6. p.m. only (any of 1, 2 or 3)
    7. Either a.m. or p.m. on any day.

We will also be looking for volunteers to help out on the day and the day before but there will be a separate thread for that. Mal (mal) is your contact for this, please PM him.

Likewise, any help in marketing and adding further attractions to the event would be gratefully received. We are delighted to announce that the Sporting Bears will be giving rides on local road, there will be helicopter rides again plus the Caterhams!

If anyone would like to take part in the Sporting Bears attraction which will be giving passenger rides on local roads, again please email thesupercarevent@live.co.uk Any classic, sports or interesting car would be suitable.

Bachi (Harsh) & Pete are taking care of the other car forums, PistonHeads and Social Media but national newspapers, radio, distributing leaflets or any other ideas all would be very welcome. Anyone who can arrange for a staff email to get sent around their office about the event will be appreciated...we have a PDF that can be sent to anyone who wants it.

Currently we are in negotiations with a number of PLC’s regarding sponsorship, but there’s nothing confirmed yet, so if any of you run / work for a company who’d like to be involved, please email as above. Even a pitch at the event starts from as little as £250!

Please ask any questions, make suggestions etc on this thread.

Random photos of previous events below.

    Many thanks,

    Richard, Bachi, Pete, & Mal.

Thanks Ewan... Bachi (Harsh) and Pete (yellowtr) and very good at this kind of thing....unfortunately, like me they can't spell for toffee.

You planning on coming along? IIRC, you gave one of my kids a ride in 2009 or 10?

    All,

Event is fully under way now and drivers are signing up on a daily basis. As Club Scuderia is a long standing partner of this event, SUBSCRIBED members are more than welcome to put there services down for the day as a driver. As per Richards original message, please can you email me via thesupercarevent@live.co.uk if you wish to take part in the day(s).

Please note that we do have to keep the cars consistent, in so far as they must fit into supercar catergory
