Default Help! Oil leak on my 360!..

I have a oil leak from my 2000 360 Modena..
But I don't know where it comes from!

It started some weeks ago when I noticed oil on my garagefloor.

I demonted the cover under the engine, and parker the car. After a couple of weeks it was no oil on the floor.
But today it is a lot of oil on the floor again! I have not started the car for a couple of weeks. Where is the oil comming out?? And why is it suddenly poring out oil??

    Please help!

The oil is dripping from the perforated plate under the engine.

    Rear main seal failed?
It seals the end of the crankshaft where it comes though the case .
Transmission and clutch out to change I'm afraid for a few $$ part......

This is what our car looked like with the rear crank seal leaking. Funnily enough, ours is in at Migliore Cars having it fixed as I type this.

Just had mine done this year - apparently they tend to go between 25,000 - 30,000 miles (mine was at 26,000). it's a 20 part but a 900 fix with labour (that's a main dealer price).

Mine was changed with the clutch at 23k (thanks Tim!) and that is the advice for anyone.
Lack of use is also a seal killer....

Ours is leaking at 29k miles. Maranello quoted me eleven hours @ 150+vat per hour - eek!

wow - that's harsh... mine was Greypaul, Nottingham...

Didn't need a clutch but did get it inspected at the same time though (mine's a manual so it can't be read by the diagnostic) ... at least I know I'm ok on that for a while. If it had been worn I'd have got it done at the same time.

I have also had my rms replaced this year .
Just checked my bill and the labour was for 9 hours (702 plus vat)
And the seals etc were around 50 inc a few exhaust nuts and bolts .

Ohh my car was on 27'000 miles when it leaked

    Thanks for all the replies!
Does anyone have a picture of the part / instruction on how to change the seal?

I am thinking of doing it myself. I demounted the clutch on my F355 some years ago, and was pretty easy job. Guess it is not so much work to get it done on the 360 either. Anyone done it?..

Is it dangerous to drive the car with the seal broken? I was thinking of changing the part when the snow is coming in November..

    Thanks!

    Olav
