Best thing to do is to charter a boat; if you haven't already bought!

I have Swan 441, (sorry all you mobos; I'm a WAFI!)

Costs a fortune to maintain and keep going; like old cottages and classic cars!! We did some chartering with her, and had a client that took a few weeks with us each year at a good discounted price. If you haven't bought one; I think this would be the best way to go.

Chartering also also gives you greater flexibility in location as well. We love the south coast; but next year will be our fourth year out of Plymouth, and after that we will want to go somewhere else; probably northern Spain. But that will cost some 4-5k just to get her there and back. If you are chartering you pick the location you want, then find a boat!!

The above said, we do love her, and have had some great sails and excellent holidays on her; Stockholm archipelago for three weeks was something else..!

One top tip, no matter where you buy the boat; if you are a UK resident, pay for a UK surveyor to inspect her. PM me for details if you want, but we learnt a hard lesson on this point.

(If anybody is up for trading some time in there Ferrari for some time on a Swan...)

Hope we see you on the water; hopefully in a yacht not a stink boat

    Cheers
    Adrian
