    Default Insurance Recommendations

Hi all, now I've been back in the UK for 12 months it's time to move my 430 Spider from French Insurance onto good old UK Insurance, so thought I'd start with Locktons for a quote:

I've just picked myself up off the floor when they have quoted 1.168.68 per annum with 3K miles, and guaranteed 80K value. Garaged. 52 yrs old. 20+ years NCD.

Their excuse was, 'a few years ago lots of youngsters with too much money and not enough sense caused a large number of Ferrari Claims'

They're going to try to reduce the quote by 25%.

Whilst cheap is not necessarily the best for premium car insurance, anyone got some other recommendations?

    thanks

    Andrew

Try AIB (one of the sponsors) they have come up with some good packages for many members.

Try classic line insurance, comes with track cover/agreed value/breakdown UK and euro etc etc
Saved 600 this year switching to them.

You could call Ian at MRIB on 01494 455605.They're a broker, I've been with them for probably 15 Years, always get a good deal from a good insurer, sure you'll get it cheaper from Admiral etc but reckon that's a brave choice for your Ferrari

Same experience as many including myself. Seems a very strange business model. Spank everyone due to a few claims.
I notice you are/were living in Cham! We rented a large place in Val D'isere for about 5 years until one year it went up by 30%. The owner said that due to reduced bookings he needed to cover his costs from the ones he had. Sound familiar

I have been through a few specialists, tried Admiral for a year (f cheap) and now with AIB (relatively expensive but excellent cover)

Last month I emailed and phoned Locktons, but they didn't bother calling me back, unlike AIB who did bother and got my custom.

AIB all the way. My 360 was 400 to insure at 5k miles p.a, guaranteed value and sitting on my driveway, ungaraged. I'm just about to add a 430 to the policy and they want another 357 to add it to take me to next May when the 360 is due to renew, making it around 560 for the year. I'm 42 living just outside Bedford.

    Just for comparison purposes.
Who has underwritten your AIB policy?
Mine is AIB through Hiscox and has no mileage limit, agreed value, any driver over 30, named repairer etc but is quite a bit more expensive....

Also Hiscox. We have the same policy by the sounds of it. Shortly I'll have three cars on the policy - the 360, 430 and my daily driver which is a 2014 330d Sport, around 1400 for the three I think. I have 11yrs NCB and no points, don't know how much difference that makes these days.

    Thanks....
    Quite a bit variation then......
We live in a low risk area. I've no points, 3 years NCB on this policy as my DD has my main no claims. Wife had a recent claim but after the quote was given. It also has to be garaged though....
I think you got a better deal than me if the policies are the same.
