Default Club Scud Wales Weekender Saturday May 7th / Sunday 8th

    Hi guys ,
thought it best to make an official thread and throw it open to anyone up for a weekend jolly into Wales .
The chosen weekend is Saturday May 7th - Sunday 8th.
The Saturday , starting at our facility in Bridgnorth on the West mids/ Shropshire border then taking in some of the best roads in Mid-North Wales,a few beers in a hotel Saturday night and finishing off with a blast round the Evo triangle on the Sunday .

First of all , just wanted to say a big thank's to Mike (Swnyradar) for his insider info on the roads around Wales and plotting out what looks like an awesome route (see below)

So if you're up for it please put your names down asap so we can get an idea of numbers for hotel rooms etc

See the attached link. A google map with some ideas for a route for Mid/North Wales. https://goo.gl/maps/pic9qwTKpGQ2

    • The B road from Llanidloes to Machynlleth is spectacular and not so well known.
    • The coast route through Aberdovey / Towyn includes 'the best lay by in Wales' for a stop off with views to the Llyn peninsula
    • Betws y coed provides a few options for a Lunch Stop
    • The A5 from Betws y Coed to Bethesda is also pretty awesome with the high mountains either side.
    • I've included the A55 dual carriage way from J11 over to Conwy as it hugs the coast, has a couple of tunnels and we could have some drive by's of each other as it is a dual. There is a junction just as you come out of the Conwy Tunnels which you can go off on return down the A55 to get onto Llanberis pass which would lead down to Porthmadog.

Mike also suggested this place for the night , i'll give them a call in the morning to check availability and room costs

Haven't stayed here but have read good reviews from a Porsche club that stayed here. Main plus Is the place has private, covered parking

    Right guys ,
had chat over email with the hotel , now they normally only book weekends out for 2 nights , but they've made an exception for us and said we can stay for 1, as long as we book for dinner , which i didn't think would be a problem as i'm sure we'll be ready for a good feed by that point .

They take a 30 deposit on booking , i'll copy below the reply from the hotel with regards to rates .

    Dear Dave

Re below, our General Manager has decided we can make an exception for your group as we are keen to attract even more classic car enthusiasts (Bentley, TVR, Porsche in the recent past) to our hotel and this area of Snowdonia.

We can only offer accommodation however with Dinner (and breakfast of course) included. At the moment the rooms we have available for 2 people sharing, with the DBB prices, are: 6 x larger family/double/twins at 168 pn; 5 smaller doubles at 154 p/n; and 1 x smaller twin at 154 pn. For single occupancy you can deduct 30 pn. These rates include a 30 per person Dinner Allowance to be used against both our 2 AA Rosette and/or Traditional Classics menus.

Obviously we would be delighted, and could offer a better weekend-break rate, if your group could stay the Friday and/or Sunday night(s).

We would also reserve tables in our elegant restaurant, and parking in our private, covered, secure garage for your vehicles though on-street is perfectly safe in our town/area.

We look forward soonest to any further enquiries and/or your booking. . .

    Kind regards
    Ian

Can you guys and anyone else interested in joining us get yourselves booked in asap so we can all get in and eat together on the evening
