Default Factory collection and 488 GTB running report- will be picture heavy!

    Chapter 1 ...Me........

So let's start by saying I feel a but bad as I normally post on fchat under the same user name but I'm Getting a bit bored with listening to constant worries about depreciation and lack of car use...

So thought I would start a thread here with plenty of pictures and a bit of a story about buying collecting and running a 488GTB.

There will be lots of pictures so I apologise for that up front...!

So let's start with a bit about me then get on to the car!!

    So I'm not rich

I live in Devon but originally from London

Loved owning and messing with cars all my life

Had a 308GT4 about 25 years ago and did a lot of work on it to keep it running and the car is still on the road and in good shape with another owner.

Have driven mercs for the past 20 odd years and recently changed to a jag F pace.

Had about 20 lotus / scimitars / TRs/ most fast Ford's and a load if other stuff to...but now just the F pace and 488...

So why a 488 and why now......

1- Always wanted a brand new Ferrari

    2- life is short.....

3- The V8 coupe to me is the thing I always lusted after

4- had a dream of picking my new car up from the factory and driving it out of the factory gates..

So decision made in September 2016 I pushed the button to.order the car!

Default Some observations and photos from Exmoor....

So driving home today a couple of observations....

1- the bumpy road mode/button I'm really not sure it is worth having ...driving on some of the roads on exmoor today I tried it for the first time and if I'm honest could not tell much difference.... not sure it is worth the engineering effort for the payback...just my opinion..

2- Race mode..in this warmer weather it is noticeable that you can get the tyres up,to temp so much quicker...obvious I know but in the winter it struggled to get them up,to,temp now they get warm nice and quick when the ambient temp is about 20c

3- one little touch that I love is the sun visors are covered in that alcantara material and I know it sounds silly but it just makes the car feel a bit special every other car I have had has had some sort of plastic!

    Pictures...

Ok been out to Exmoor today..over to Minehead then Wimbwall reservoir and back...lovely clear roads apart from a traffic jam on the way back!!!

If anyone is out this way and wants a drive over Exmoor or Dartmoor let me know...we don't have to go,mental just go for a cruise the weather has been brill!

I find the bumpy road very effective and makes a huge difference in ride quality, in fact itís always on with me, I find the ride when itís not on in sport or race far too hard for road use.
The only time Iíd not use it is on a track.

I also found the same in the 430, the ride was much firmer in race mode, but no bumpy road button was available (was introduced on the scud)

It may be worth you having it checked to see if itís working correctly as I see an instant and significant change when itís engaged.
