    Default What car to get?

    Ok...I'm struggling to think of a what car to get the missus next!

    Criteria are:
    - cant be huge! (yeah yeah);
    - she only does about 10 miles a day for work, so petrol/manual would be best, and even non-turbo better;
    - must be big enough to take a dog in the boot;
    - must be able to deal with country living, i.e. lots of potholes, mud and horse poop!
    - would be good if the wing mirrors were strong as she has broken two on cyclists! (we are inundated by mamils in pelotons here)
    - needs to be interesting, i.e. escort/astra no!
    - and no Audis or Mercedes. Neither of these companies will ever get money from me again.

    Usually I have no problems suggesting cars, but this time I'm a bit stuck... so come on give us some ideas!!!!

    2006ish BMW 330 touring - the N52 engine. Small enough, yet big enough for the dog?

    Or 335i if you're feeling adventurous

    Shame - I love my Cayenne, and you can certainly pick up one like mine for below 8k. And the mirrors won't break on cyclists (although I admit I haven't tested that).

    Mind you, that 10 miles a day will virtually cost you a gallon of petrol......

    Im using a fair number of hire cars lately and the best to date was a Skoda Octavia Estate. Ticked every box as a daily and a nice size boot for the dogs.

    Skoda Yeti is a sensible choice.......but why be sensible

    I'd put 8.5k limit, All makes, in the PH search engine and tick the boxes I want like, RWD, 0-60 time etc then sort down on price. You'd be surprised at what's in your range
