    Default Euro Road Trip

For the last few years Iíve done a road trip with a couple of friends in Caterhams, weíve been to the Highlands a couple of times and to the West Country a couple of times also.

This year weíre going further afield and Iím taking the F430 and they will be in Caterhams.

While I always make a video during the trip, I thought Iíd try and keep a daily diary which Iíll publish here if anyoneís interested.

    Here goes:-

    1. Car cleaned, serviced and packed, 1st stop Folkestone- we leave tonight for an early Eurotunnel tomorrow.

The Caterham has something like a 25 litre tank, weíre going to see a lot of Petrol stations over the next few days and have a lot of fuel anxiety.

New 2 way radios are an upgrade on previous years, and seem to actually have a range greater than shouting distance.

Iím also having some anxiety about handling my pride and joy over to my mates, have never let anyone else drive any of my cars before except that one time due to a very large hangover.

Anyway Folkestone Holiday Inn is fine for an overnight stay, wouldnít come here for my holidays.

    Day 1 proper

A bit cliche but a drive down to Reims for a photo session at the old circuit, spot of lunch and then a drive down to Lorraine.

Firstly, Reims was well worth it, easy to drive there and generally on the way to anywhere interesting in France.

Now sat outside a lovely farm house B&B in a tiny village having a beer.

The roads here are superb, motorways empty, country roads smooth.

Off to the Black Forest tomorrow for some proper driving.

For some reason I canít upload photos from today.

Spent yesterday getting down to Freiburg in the Black Forest, mainly A roads with a couple of decent tunnels but otherwise uneventful.

All 3 of us got flashed by the same speed camera in town / speed limit was apparently 30kmph - we were doing maybe 30 mph.

Went for a drive up the B500 ĎBlack Forest high roadí which is a decent road albeit there was too much traffic and not many opportunities to overtake so ultimately disappointing.

The 10 mile stretch of unrestricted autobahn was also too busy, 110 was all I could safely manage briefly.

Mercure Panoramic hotel is superb, Freiburg city centre is nice and lively and I have a bit of a hangover- perfect for sitting in the blazing sun in the car for the next 4 hours as we head for Stelvio via Zurich.

    Default Euro Road Trip

    Keeps the updates coming

Everyone needs at least one pic of their car at the Reims old circuit.

I use that when on my mountain bike with Strava. Were you running Strava in the car? Nice pics btw!

We stayed just a mile or so from the Reims circuit during a road trip in 2012 but I didn't even know it was there - doh!
    I managed this one though
