Default New Owner Importing 360 from Italy

    Hello all,

I am in the process of negotiating a trade with my Lancia Integrale Evo 2 for a 2000 Ferrari 360 F1, MY2000 Giallo Modena model with 67k klm on the clock. The car has only had 2 owners, both doctors and has a full ferrari service history with all books and keys etc. Last serviced within the last year and cambelts done at that time. Its over in Italy, so I plan on driving it back and then sorting out the importation and registration here. If its anything like the bikes I have done, its a case of NOVA registering, MOT and fill out new reg document. No VAT or DUTY to pay as its EU..

In terms of the car, it comes with both yellow and black rear grille, ceramic wing badges and 3 exhausts -std, X-OST and Capristo st3.

Ive read through a load of buyers guides I have been able to find, is there any pointers to share? Any absolutes to check?

    Thank you in advance,

Not sure but check there are not fees/ some sort of car sales tax to pay in Italy, definitely read about it but maybe for trade sales only

    Default Welcome

If you've read the car guides (eg PH / FChat / Voicey) then that's a good basis

I too think there's some sort of bureaucracy (not just insurance) to complicate driving the car back - probably a few useful threads on PH to cover this

Are you able to get an independent inspection done?

May have been serviced recently but doesn't account for stuff that has been overlooked. I would be looking at when the ball joints were last done as a likely culprit for needing attention.

Is the fact the previous owners were both doctors a good or bad thing I wonder going on how inattentive my doctor is

As Andy says get a PPI.

I once bought a car off a Sir/Lady on a similar basis without having an inspection...bit of a mistake that, but fortunately wasn't anything near as valuable/potentially expensive to fix.

    Good Luck

PS how you getting the exhausts back?

Thanks for comments. Iíd like to get a PPI done, I will try to find the nearest dealer to Tuscany and see if they can do it for me.

Turns out itís 2 exhausts, the capristo isnít included in the same just the standard and xost which is currently fitted. He will post the original one to me..Name: FA1A9F31-C907-44CB-89A9-2764AD9C922C.jpg

As above, Iíd try to get a PPI done if travel is easy. Hidden accident damage/repairs would be my main concern. Speak to Tim at Walkersport or try a local main dealer.
Iíve seen your PH thread so wonít repeat the advice there.
Expensive items due for attention could be the clutch so what is the current wear? This can be read from the F1 control unit. Expect it to need changing between 30 and 50k km.
As Andy says suspension items can need attention.
Check for signs of contamination in the coolant. The gearbox oil heat exchanger can fail which will destroy the box if not picked up and resolved quickly.
I had an early F1 control unit in mine and it drove really well will good pick-up and very smooth changes. You have to learn the systems foibles and drive around them but a test drive is a must.

Good luck and keep us posted

Ps check it has the alarm system PIN number so you can replace the alarm fobs. Without it it is a new immobiliser system.
Itís a 4 digit number on a similar wage slip like document that you get with your credit cards. The radio PIN is on a credit card sized Becker card but is easily obtained if missing.

Checked and the car has the 2 keys and the cards with the PIN numbers. Here are some photos of the car in question:
