Well, I promised I would let you all know how it went!

    What a treat!

I took the car up early Friday morning and Michael was waiting for me at his new workshop. It was really clean and spacious and very secure. I was very happy to leave it with him.

Interestingly it didn't make one of the noises that Michael was supposed to be investigating on the drive up there, so not sure what that was, but I explained the other things that needed doing and left to meet my wife at Barker and Stonehouse (the price I had to pay for the lift home!).

Michael let me know that the car had passed its MOT and he had finished the bodywork I wanted doing and he was working on a fix for one of the odd noises which was due to a broken part in the air con / heating system. It was such a pleasure to hear that he was trying to fix it rather than just simply telling me I needed a new part from Ferrari (as I would certainly have got from a main dealer).

He looked into the other issues and provided me with a very thorough report and some real common sense, pragmatic advice about what needed doing and when (nothing else just yet as it turns out).

There were signs of oil residue when the under tray came off, which is always worrying of course, but after a thorough looking over, we concluded that it was probably linked to all the previous oil hassles I'd had with the last garage that serviced the car. We will just monitor.

New tyres went on (Bridgestone Potenza RE050As) and he called me to say it was ready to pick up on Tuesday afternoon.

He had the car on the ramp when I got there just to show me the little things we had talked about, he quickly refitted the under tray and I was then on my way, significantly less out off pocket than I would have been had I gone to most other places and a lot more satisfied. I had a lovely drive back (I went the long way round obviously) and the tyres were noticeably grippier than the old ones they replaced (10 years old!).

I was kept thoroughly informed through out with texts, photos, emails and calls and will definitely be taking my car to Michael from now on.

He is in the process of setting himself up with a website which I will keep an eye out for and link to once its up.

Great to hear. I will definitely journey there when work is due. Good to have a relatively local specialist and especially a recommended one even if Aberford would have been much easier for me!

Really chuffed you're happy with the service you received MBL! I had the rear brakes sorted a few weeks back, not only did Michael clear the brake line but he removed the callipers and gave them a full service and cleanup. They look like new inside and out!
