I was told that too about ANPR by the copper that pulled me over for TU0 5LOW (incorrect size, incorrect font, incorrect spacing) on my Harley. I was going to tell him I'd never had a problem at the Dartford Crossing or Eurotunnel with R 55O GT (incorrect size, incorrect font, incorrect spacing) on my Maranello but then I thought better of it...

I wouldn't mind, but I'd just pulled across to the outside lane so he could join a dual carriageway, I pulled back in and he nicked me. Favour for a favour? Nah!

I must say I just find the whole UK number plate culture weird...

I sort of get the plate number being the car model or something like that and I changed my 599 original because it read SN08, but the whole Christian name, plastic bolts modifying letters, spacing mods, front plate missing etc. Itís all Just perplexing...

What is the point I am not getting?

My favourite terrible example is hot RS Audi's with no front plate so they look like big gaping fugly cow catchers...

a I right in thinking that the regs specify the size of letters, the space between them and the space to the end of the plate. So that it you have a reg that is AB23 then the plate will be far shorter end to end than if your reg is AB60CDE ?

And the space above them. However the border is a minimum not an exact figure so while AB23 can be smaller it does not need to be.
