Default Ferrari 348 clutch replacement when?

Hi Everyone Iím a new member so hi all and new to the Ferrari seen.
Looking to purchase my 1st Ferrari in the near future and yesterday looked at a 308 and a 348ts which Fit in to my around £50k budget and from that I liking the 348ts.
The one I looked at had done 34,000 miles but hadnít had the clutch replaced and Iíve seen others for sale will similar miles say this has been replaced so wondered what sort of life is expected from a clutch.
Also any other information would be greatly received on faults, choices and costs to newby.
    Thanks for time
    Regards
    Kev

    Default Welcome

There's a huge amount of 348 buying advice already here so try looking up some old threads

Manual Ferrari clutches can last six figure mileages so there's no reason to expect replacement in relatively low mileages - sometimes they are done just because the engine is out for example as its so much cheaper to do it then

Hi Kevin. Firstly welcome to CS. I had to approve your post as a first time poster which is why it didn't ping up instantly.

I own a '93 348 TS and live about 45-50 mins or so from you in Potterhanworth so feel free to pop up and have a good look over the car and chat about the model. I've had the car for about 8 years now so have got to know many things to look out for as well as costs etc - I'm sad enough that I sat down and worked out the exact costs to me over the past 8 years of owning the car which I can show you with a full breakdown.

As Jos says, clutches can last a long time but it depends a bit on driving style and track use etc. My car's not been used on a track (to my knowledge) and at 32,000 miles shows no sign of needing a new clutch. If and when she does it's actually a pretty easy job and the clutch 'pumpkin' is easily accessible so while some may get it done with an engine out there isn't really a need. More likely than having to change the clutch plate on a car this age would be to have to re-pack the clutch with grease but that's not really an issue and can be done DIY depending on whether you want to get your hands dirty

Btw which car have you looked at? There aren't that many about so I may know the car, particularly if local to us.

    Hi.
Thanks for your reply and excepting me on to the forum and yes I think I would like to pop and see you sometime to have a chat you sound like you have all the info I need. The only 348 I have looked at so far is in Lincoln at MS super cars. There a few more about as well but haven’t been to see them yet.
    Regards
    Kev

Theyíve blanked out the number plates on the MS Supercar website so Iím afraid I donít know if I know the car or not.
