Default F430 Spider Small Paint Job - Help Needed

There is a thin metal strip between the windscreen pillar and the door rubber that on my car had faded badly from its original black colour. I have rubbed it down to its base coat and not sure whether it is plastic or metal but it needs painting in black.

    This picture shows it's location.

So the question is what paint to do it with? I was assuming start point to be some grey primer couple of coats and wet and dry flat followed by a top coat and maybe some lacquer?

I'm not sure where to source the paint though or whether lacquer will be needed?

Any advice would be very welcome.

    Thanks

Thanks Mike. It's on the plans for the weekend.

    No undercoat or primer required?

    It should be aluminium.
If you go down to the bare aluminium then you will need a specific type of primer as paint, or indeed regular primer will not bond or key to aluminium.
The paint will just flake off - almost instantly !

A specific aluminium 'etching' primer is best.
