458 service due, stick with main dealer or deviate?

Hi All, recently bought a lovely 458 and the annual service is due. It's a 2010 car with 29k and full Ferrari service history. The dilemma I have is that I run my own garage specialising mostly in German brands so naturally I only really trust myself to work on my own cars. It doesn't help that my local main dealer (Maranello Egham) doesn't seem to have the best reputation based on a few people I have spoken to and reading through some google reviews which means I'll have to travel somewhere else. Then there's the obvious cost savings of doing it in house so I guess main question is how negatively will it affect saleability/desirability even though I have no plans on selling. I really want to maintain it myself but I get there's certain expectations which come with the brand. Advice please?

I think when it comes to Ferraris it slightly depends on the age of the car.

Older models I don't think it matters as much, in fact many people would prefer an older car to have been maintained by a good indie when they go looking for a car, I know I would. With the newer models it's a little different. They are often bought by people who are not as tied to the Marque as it were, and are often traded more regularly. I'd say it'll make more of a difference on resale with a newer car than an older one. The dividing line between 'older' and 'newer' is probably creeping towards 430 to 458. That said if you keep the car a fair few years that dividing line will change, although I think it'll be a while before a 458 is seen as an 'older model'.

Bottom line is yes, it'll make a difference in perceived value and ease of sale if you take a 458 with a FFSH and maintain it yourself at a non-specialist garage. Whether that's worth it for the peace on mind in knowing it's being maintained properly is a matter of choice but I think it would be to me.

A guy near me who I was chatting to recently was in a similar predicament to yourself so simply started his own multi-marque specialists. He owns a few Ferraris so I think they mainly do those but they also cover other cars he owns. The new company essentially operates out of one end of his other garage so he gets his cars looked after how he wants and they maintain a Ferrari Specialist service history. I went in enquiring about servicing my 348. They had a 599 in having some engine work done but had recently done a full engine out service on a Testarossa which gave me confidence they had worked on cars from the same era as mine.

Thanks for your input. I registered the business on Ferrari's B2B techinfo site so I have access to view digital maintenance history via VIN numbers and all the technical documentation but it doesn't look like they allow independent garages to update the digital service history unlike the other marques

at that age; i would swallow your pride, get the basic service done; maybe autofficiana instead. that way you maintain the known indie/main dealer service history stamp, which rightly or wrongly does count on resale/ ease of sale

anything else just do yourself !

Thanks, I'm going to give Autofficiana a call. QV is literally right next to me but I'm getting a feeling they might specialise more on the older models but that might just be my perception.
