488 Stop Start (HELE system)

This doesn't seem to be working anymore. The light comes on when I press the button and the message appears on the dashboard. It used to work but in the last couple of weeks it seems to have stopped working.

I can't see a fuse or relay in the manual but who knows. Any ideas - except for don't bother with it!!

This can sometimes be an indication of another fault. A friend had this happen recently and it turned out to be a leaking A/C pipe! Go figure!!!

Battery is a Ferrari one - maybe original - so whilst i seems OK - it probably isn't so I will replace with a nice Bosch one and see what happens.

Changed the battery this morning. Thanks to the Ferrari designers for making this 10 times harder than it needs to be.
Done but sadly the HELE system is still refusing to work. As previously the light comes on and the message on the dash is displayed but no Stop Start.
The old Ferrari battery did have the month and date card attached but hadn't been filled in so no idea how old the battery was. Will try a few more internet searches before contacting dealer again.

Thanks Trev. Closest main dealer is Leeds but I had a shocking experience there when trying to buy a 488 and vowed never to return. Next nearest is Nottingham or Newcastle. Nottingham was a great experience just a pain to have to drive there.

Surely there must be a reputable indy closer to hand. Maybe a seperate post on here asking just that could throw up something.

I’ve struggled since moving to York. When I was in Solihull I used Migliore cars and still will going forward for service probably but also a long trip for a reset.

It seems that the IBS (intelligent battery sensor) on top of the battery will need a few miles (50) to calibrate before it will work. So I will wait until I've done a few trips and report back.

I didn't do the moving myself. I decided to use the services of professionals and at one point I noticed United Local Movers. Having used their services, I realized that it was the best decision during the move.
I can totally understand the struggle of adjusting to a new area! Moving to a new place can definitely make it tough to find the right services you’re used to. If you're thinking about long trips for a reset, sometimes it's also worth exploring local options. You might come across something just as good, or even better, closer to home. If you need any recommendations for services in York, feel free to ask—sometimes locals can point you to hidden gems!
