So off to Carrs yesterday for its service and MoT. Bright shinny new truck.

355 came back week before last all serviced and fettled. Passed its MoT no problems.

Service manager said it was the best sounding ferrari he had heard! It did come back with the bypass valve open!!! I think they had been playing.

Some extras done in both rocker cover gaskets replaced as one was weeping and the other threatening. Not cheap but it was dripping onto the exhaust and the smell bothered me!

Now for detailing and tinkering.

Fortunately the car is PPFed, and the grill shows what gets thrown at it. Obviously had to sort this out, Halfords satin black a perfect match!

Next up is the night illumination for the clock!

Santa accidentally bid on a reg, so spent the past few days fitting them.

Rear was easy, currently on with double sided tape but will also screw it on; the rear does get hot and I did loose the rear plate on my 348 once!

Front was just attached with padded foam with double sides tape; no idea how that stayed on! So a little metal bashing to make a couple of brackets, despite double curvature, fairly easy to make, bit of double sided foam to take up any mismatch and then screwed on!! Just a black cover for the nut to go!

All packed, car checked over and ready for the first continental trip of this year; just enough space I think for a couple cases of wine!

Time hopefully for some good roads!!

A good days drive. Bit of a miscalculation on my part, but in Colmar read start exploring Switzerland tomorrow. Came into Colmar on the back roads, some lovely roads and pretty quiet!

Lucerne, Zermatt now back in France, Beaune, via some of the best driving roads, up in and around Lac De Joux; and a great little road across the boarded

Just over 1700 miles door to door. Car didnt miss a beat and used hardly any oil. Only minor issue were some squeaky brakes which I will sort this week.

Getting back onto uk roads you realise our best roads arent even as good as the worst french roads, and actually french are way better drivers. Germans and Swiss on the other hand are a bit pushy but can soon be put in their place!!!

Shell in Switzerland sell 100 Premium, and the car sure did love that; but the cost of filling up on the continent isnt cheap anymore!

Now for lots of cleaning etc, and planning for the next adventure!

Out on the weekend and the exhaust sounded a bit “blowy”; and a few people commented it was louder then normal.

A quick inspection and I was missing the exhaust clamp between the cat and muffler on one side was missing! Fortunately not the headers, a known issue on 355s!

An easy replacement, but at £130 inc vat and shipping for one clamp is really taking the piss! M6 bolt and nut feel fairly poor.

But fixed and hopefully not have to deal with again.

Well, been locked out for a bit, but been busy as usual!

Had an awesome road trip to Anguoleme and Circuit de Rampart. Definitely going back next year. The rally on the Saturday was truly epic. Very nervous at first having a police outrider follow us with lights going as we wizzed through the country side, overtaking at junctions to stop traffic for us. Very cool. 4 course silver service lunch for about 400 people in a stunning chateau was so french, followed by more rally with cars everywhere and locals out in force waving and cheering everyone, then finishing on a podium in town with more police escort through the pedestrian sections of town! (would never ever happen in the uk, ever!)

We missed the racing on Sunday as we needed to head north but spoke to a few owners of Type 35s, they had their own paddock in the cathedral! More so very french!!

Since then its been down to Carrs for its annual service. Nothing additional needed, so the only “extra” this year has been an exhaust clamp that fell off somewhere!!

As I write this, the rims are with Steve at TPCS as one of a very few companies that can powder coat magnesium rims. They had some chips and the remnants of the curb rash I did in Switzerland last year. They are currently stripped and being powdercoated so pics when I get them back. Just not looking fwd to the bill as they are very labour intensive. New Pilot Super Sports will also be going on.

Looks like a great trip Adrian. You're right, this would never happen in the UK. They'll happily close roads for bicycle races but never momentarily for a rally to pass through.

Finaly got the rims back and on the car.

They had been painted in the past, had the odd stone chip and two had a bit of an incident with a Swiss granite curb.

As they are magnesium there arent many places that know what they are doing or will take them on; it wasnt cheap! Fortunately TPCS are local and specialise in magnesium. If I wanted them perfect, Id have them sprayed next, but they will get used!

I also had a cracked insert. Easily fixed. The old one came out by tapping a socket and extension. New one from superformance, back in the same way!

Ordered new valves from Maranello spares. Couldnt find any fitting instructions other than similar ish and to torque to 4 - 8nm, so did them by feel!

Also added a dab of locktite, just to be sure as whilst there is a washer, there is no locking washer.

Ordered the tyres from Etyres. Ones on were 6-8 years old, so took the chance to get new boits.

Will never use Etyres again! 2 weeks on Im still chasing them for my amazon vouchers and one tyre is 2 1/2 years old! Not to mention the rubbish customer service!

Had them fitted by company recommended. They took care, but the fitting machine left little indebts/ dimples on the inside. Not great, but at least you cant see them!

All fitted back on the car ready for spring!!!

Horsey caps lined up with the valve caps! All in the detail.

I agree, got to have Horsey Caps :ROFLMAO:

Re the tyre age I got hit with that once and it was worse than 2 1/2 years. I always ask for the age of the tyres now which at times has made me fell like an awkward customer but as tyres on low mileage cars are often changed on age not usage I think it's totally reasonable to insist on fairly recent DOT codes.
