What’s this black box do ?

Have a curious poke around on this new to me 94 - 348 SP . Stabilant applied to the relays as a preventative measure .

The black box was ticking for a few mins ( key removed after backing it out of the garage ) it stopped ticking by the time I got my knee pad , a tissue and sone stabilant on a micro brush .

Assume it’s something to do with the immobiliser ?
A U.K. Marenello importer fitment ( so I was told ) with the fob you have to touch a socket by the key hole on the column .

1) that looks like immobiliser or similar; dodgy wiring behind a good giveaway. took all mine out; nothing but trouble
2) there are two fuse panels; lights etc are on the other one, left hand side of the fwd trunk under the access panel.

and a completely new window module.
... like the F355 Spider. i.e. I'm not sure where the module is on the 348, but on my RHD F355 spider, it's to the left of the driver's left knee.

The non-spider 348 has a power relay in that location (instead of the jumper plug). It simply provides power to the L & R window motor fuses.

That jumper plug can be quite handy for faultfinding other system faults (where you need to jump relays). They can be found in VW catalogues, but I think they're getting hard to find now.

Yep because the windows drop by approximately 5 cm when you unlatch the hood handle . I assume it’s to facilitate making enough space at the rear, to folding it back manually behind the seats ?

Porsche boxsters also a have window drop function when the ( electric ) hood drops .
