Whats the most you won or lost at a casino?

Vegas about 20 yrs ago - having had a brill drive over from LA with my B.A. air hostess, stayed for a week, won enough on my last night to pay for the week - result

That's it the Dragonara. Maybe next time I'm in Malta I'll go to the one next to your place.

It’s worth a look. The building is a 400 year old palace and the rooftop restaurant and bar has stunning views over Grand Harbour. :dude: So if you loose on the tables/slots you can at least drown your sorrows in style. Can’t comment on the gambling but my brother worked on the project to fit it out and apparently they spent a shed load of money on the place. Still, I guess if you’re playing poker with $$$$ in the pot you don’t give a damn if you’re in a Portacabin or Buckingham Palace :D

I have had two very large losing sessions, one at the opening of the Crown Towers Casino in Melbourne in 1998 over 4 days, and one in Las Vegas in 2000 (3 days).

Without going into specifics I lost extremely significant amounts of money on both occasions and as a result have dramatically changed my gambling habits.

By normal standards I guess I still have an issue, but I now only wager amounts that I don't mind writing off.

 I take it you just do the scratch cards now Roger:)

I like to go to the casino ... started in the UK since I do NOT understand how pubs close before 11pm! So a mate told me the Casino will be open so we always used to end up there till 4 am.

I usually only play chump change .... £40-£50 quid. I usually quit if I either loose it or double it.

My biggest loss though was at the Luxor in Vegas. Last time I went I had a nightmare of a holiday (never fly United) and my 6 night holiday was cut to 4 nights ... on the last night I was sloshed and was really in a good mood and I though F it! So I ended up loosing $600 to a 70year old croupier ... She was the sweetest woman ever - till I realised that she'd cleaned me out, but it was fun!!!

I have won £480 and £160 but the ive only been 3 times.

1) went with friend around 6 years ago who is a poker man, he told me he would have 3 spins of the wheels doubling up each time, he did as he said, bet £40, then £80 and then £160, he walked out with £360 and we went for a currie and I was shocked, we were in there less than 5 minutes !!!!

2) went with same bloke and my wife as I was mesmirised by him winning 2 weeks before, I had £1500 on me, £500 was for gambling that I was prepared to lose, I actually won £480 but my mate who took £1000 lost his completely, then loaned him my £1500 then my £480 and then took £300 from the cash machine.
He lost in total £3280, me and the wife fealt sick, he put on a brave face but as he is a taxi driver I knew he couldnt afford it, we fealt awefull and swore we wouldnt go back.

3) Last year, the day we got the ferrari, we went to the birmingham wheel on hagley road, we had around £500 but was only going to spend about £100, we actually walked out with £160 more and had a decent meal and drinks there too.

It doesnt float my boat to be honest.

It doesn’t really float my boat, to be honest. These days, if I feel like a quick thrill, I’ll do a round or two in aviator game by mostbet — it’s a fast-paced game I found on Mostbet. It’s got that same kind of tension without needing to physically be in a casino, and I never go beyond my limit.
Sounds like you've had quite the rollercoaster of experiences — definitely a mix of highs and lows.

That first visit must’ve felt surreal. Walking in, seeing your friend hit three wins in a row, then heading out for a curry like it was nothing — that’s the kind of night that sticks with you. But yeah, the second story really highlights how quickly things can turn. It's tough watching someone spiral like that, especially when it's someone you know can't afford the loss. Sounds like you did everything you could, but situations like that leave a lasting impact.

Glad to hear the third time around was more balanced — modest win, good night out, no stress. I think your takeaway says a lot: gambling might have its moments, but for most people it’s not worth the emotional swings or risk, especially when others get caught up in it too deeply.

Appreciate you sharing — it's a real and honest look at both sides of it.
