Default 348 MAJOR SERVICE & CAM BELTS WHAT'S INCLUDED ?

I am going to be getting my 348 GTB Serviced & was wondering what is included (as per Ferrari Schedule) in a Major Service with Belts.

Can anyone please reccomend any other things that should be done whilst the engine is out.

    Thanks in advance.

Depends on how long you are going to keep it and what's been done in the past.

    I'd consider the following:

    - Change Cambelt Tensioners for ones from Hill Engineering.
    - Consider changing the water pump or at least check it (it'll be over 14 years old... buy OEM or the cheaper ebay one)
    - Get the dampers refurbished (60 plus vat each)
    - Change spark plugs for NGK's
    - Paint the cam covers
    - Change as many seals as financially possible (if you're going to keep it long term)
    - Change the coolant hoses for the silicon ones I put together from SFS
    - Check the Alternator bracket for cracks. Costs 24 to replace.
    - Consider also upgrading the Alternator with a couple of new parts. It'll make it more reliable and does'nt cost much to do.
    - Check suspension bushes for wear

As I've said, the 348 is 14 plus years old now so many things need to be replaced. Rule of thumb is to purchase better parts where applicable. Things like Tensioners and spark plugs are better purchased elsewhere than Ferrari as they are better quality.

    Good luck

What's the OEM Water Pump Sy?

(BTW, I'd add Thermostat + Seal to the list. PITA to do with engine in-situ)

Depending on the mileage and whether you are doing the cam seals or not(which I would) it is worth checking the valve clearances and adjusting if required.

I believe Dave at Scuderia Systems does a silicone hose set as well

Personally I don't think these cars should now be serviced in line with the factory schedules, they need more than this

It's the original Ferarri one which costs around 600.

The ebay one is much less than that and supposed to be quite good with the correct bearing used. I purchased the Ferarri myself.

Yep. That should be changed as well. Cost around 50 if I recall correctly.

Contact Joe at lancaster ferrari and mention my name (Sy) and he'll give you a discount as well.
