Im afraid theres more to a car than lap times for me. Its ugly, sounds absolutely crap, and at the end of the day is a near 60k Nissan that will **** money faster than you can imagine.

Thats Just what my wife says, whats teh point of spending ood money if you dont feel good in it, at 30 mph in a high street, you need to feel differeent, only a Ferrari does that for me!

Have to agree to that. A Ferrari looks good driving slow or parked, but sounds good going fast too.

I have had both cars, an R34 GT-R V-Spec (ran it for a few years and loved it) and a Ferrari 360 (still own it). Both are completely different cars and both cars give you so much fun!

The Nissan GT-R was actually an amazing car to own but the best bit about it was its everyday usability and epic performance. As an everyday proposition, you never feel worried about bad weather conditions and its actually still a highly desirable car to own. Parking is a breeze (unlike the Ferrari) and you never worry about putting too much mileage on it (residuals are virtually uneffected by miles).

The *NEW* Nissan GT-R is so very different in the flesh, saw it at the Nurburgring a few weeks ago and it is absolutely huge ... not traditionally beautiful in the European sense but still a fantastic ownership proposition and very radical styling to anything else thats out there.

On depreciation front I think you'll find that F430's will shed a lot more than a GT-R will in its first year. It is massively oversubscribed (a big waiting list already!) and its performance is otherwordly. It will be 100% reliable (Japanese car don't do unreliable unless massively modified/unloved..). In terms of depreciation on the R34, good ones still sell circa 25-30k. I sold mine 4 years ago now for 33K having owned it for 2 1/2 years and only lost 5k-ish. Thats not at all bad for the smiles per miles factor!

I'd definately consider one as and everyday driver but I wouldn't swap it for my Ferrari...
