You'll find out very soon, but (and I may be about to be proved wrong any minute) it seems a bit unlikely as it would surely be very complicated to enforce.

210 for the highest polluting vehicles, according to the Beeb.

    SteveF ???

I thought they might have stung 'us' a bit more - what's 210 - an increase of 30 ? (Hardly going to make me change my cars)

It's a token gesture toward the sandal and lentil brigade who will be placated for a week or two before realising that it's not going to change anything.

Normally I'd agree with you, but the fact he's knocked VED on the head for other end of the scale means surely they'll cancel each other out in revenue terms?

"The duty paid on 50 % of cars will be frozen or reduced from tomorrow"

In other words 50 % will go up - so suprise suprise its not just the 1 % of Range Rovers and other similar anti-social trucks who will have their road tax raised as portrayed in the initial reports....

Maybe they will reduce the road tax on little 4wd cars and only increase tax on the big ones.

    (please)
