Thanks Adrian - Ill have a look - what a bizarre thing to have???!!!! LOL

Full alignment is on the cards as I'm replacing both upper and lower ball joints plus track rod ends plus have also had 2 new tyres fitted. Be interesting to see how it feels once all done :-)

I'm guessing it's this thing marked in yellow but obviously not available as a separate part :-(

    Jeff, that's basically it.

Its only a flat metal plate. Get a piece of metal and some tin snips and make a new one if yours is too far gone.

I was hoping that the penetrating oil on the long bolt being left to soak overnight would of done the trick but despite making a little jig it will still not knock out :-(

Quick photo for reference of which way round the link to the ARB goes.

Without burning or otherwise attempting to remove the rubber part of the bush I attempted tp press out the bush in the vice with my sockets. Unless it's my imagination it looked like it came out a bit??????

    Other end pressed in.

Couldn't persuade it any further so resorted to melting out the 2 bushes plus the bushes surrounding the ARB link so I ca get a better purchase o that end of the bolt.

So this is where I'm at. One stuck bolt and 2 stuck collars. Started looking at the presses Garvin mentioned but they seem to be out of stock everywhere! :-( This job is not going well - BOOHOO :-(

So painful Jeff. I know that we like to do everything ourselves, but is there not a local garage near you - often these guys work wonders. They all have presses and are used to using them. No point in buying a press which will take up a lot of space before you need it again.

I am teetering on doing that - still in the not wanting to admit defeat stage at moment so need a day or 2 longer! LOL

The presses are a bit pricey - just wondering whether these type are any good?? Dont know whether they ae a bit too wobbly as they look like they are just a bottle jack in a frame.

Do you have a blowtorch? If so try using your vice and sockets method and, when tightened up as far as possible (that’s just before your bulging eyes leave their sockets), gently (and I mean gently) heat the suspension arm around the bush. The slight expansion may just result in it suddenly ‘going’.

I sometimes have to employ this method even with the hydraulic press!

I do and I have considered that.

I quite like the look of this method if I can get myself a suitable sized oiece of tube

Good luck finding tube of the correct dimension! I also like his installation method with the plate “just knocked up” - that’ll be that rather beefy bit of plate with a rather large hole in it - yeah, dead easy to “just knock up” one of those at home!

PS: For installation, put the bush in the freezer overnight and warm the suspension arm gently just before installation (stick it in a bowl of boiling water for a minute or two if you don’t fancy wielding the blow torch). You can quite often then just knock the bush in easily with a suitable socket and hammer.
