Default F430 whats happens when low oil pressure

whilst driving today I noticed the oil pressure level dropped from full to 0, i parked up after maybe 10 minutes checked the dip stick and switched the car off. the current oil level is on minimum, could this be the cause of low pressure or is something else wrong

A likely culprit is Italian electrics esp if you did not get slow down or an error light but you might feel more comfortable being sure (eg if it comes back on next time you turn then keep driving)

Low level on the dip stick will not give you a low pressure reading.

I would check it out before you start it again, although the fact that it ran for several minutes after seeing zero on the gauge with no ill effect, like Jos says it is probably only a pressure gauge issue.
First thing I'd look at would be the sender unit and work back from there. On the other cars these are a weak item. I changed mine a couple of years back as the reading was erratic.

Also, you need to have the engine running, warm to check the level. Don't chuck a litre in there when it's cold and the engine is running, as the reading will be incorrect.

Which, if you do genuinely have low oil pressure, is a bit of a nightmare!

For safety sake, I'd take it to a dealer or reputable Indy to look at it properly.

No oil = no pressure.........wouldn't advise playing Russian roulette with any engine.......verify oil level, and carry out an oil pressure test.....do not drive until you have established that there is oil pressure.

sounds like good advise, what is best way to check if there pressure.

Ideally you need to find somebody with a mechanical gauge, disconnect the crank sensor or similar to stop it firing and turn the engine over on the starter. If no pressure you're facing a big problem but as Jos suggests it's probably just a sender issue and the mech gauge will confirm this

There maybe light at the end of the tunnel, today i started the car just to listen for any knocking sounds and the gauge is working, what I found strange was with the ignition on the gauge went to 10, shouldn't it only move once the car starts also isn't 10 high.

    4-6 bar is normal iirc

10 bar would indicate a blockage or a faulty gauge, get it to a garage!

It could go to full deflection if the sender is faulty or the sender or gauge has a bad earth

I'd still suspect the sender unit
