Lockton have kind of sorted their IT issues out; so now have all the documents .

3k miles is £439 so will go with that as the policy sounds good and covers me for what I want to do. Certainly not a big enough difference in it to chance an unknown!

Now to get out and drive it...

Seems quite reasonable.
Lockton were always expensive when I was looking for quotes and a third more expensive than Classic Line.
Classic line covered me for a dealer organised track day free of charge once, as it was Ferraris only on track and overseen by ARDS instructors.

To sort of up-date this,

I went with footman james for my 348, Mustang, Escort RS Cosworth and my Chevy truck, Basic sort of policy, the only numb was i wanted an agreed value of 60K for the 348 but then wanted proof of its value 7 days after taking my money based on the value of £60k

This was during lockdown so not had a chance to sort this out, i did contact someone about it, took my money the proceeded to mess me around !

Anyway just put a deposit down on a 458 so will be back with the AIB/ Locktons and the like for that one, not looking forward to dealing with them.

Up-date from me trying to source Insurance

Called up AIB gave all the info, got a call back a few hrs later saying they dont have any info yet and will call me tomorrow

Locktons, just can not get anyone on the phone, you sort of get into a "merry go round" on there phone system which results in being cut off !

Aib came back £1,850 but with Aviva but with a £1250 excess !

Locktons £1,425 ish with £1000 excess, but they limit the mileage to 5000 per year which they will not lift this limit. This is a sticking point as for me that's a trip to Italy and back and a few trips to Germany.

Need to try and find some other options

Did me a big favor as i pick up a much better car from JCT600 on Friday.

just placed my insurance with Locktons, they emailed me out of the blue this morning asking what had i done and what could they do to get my business. I had a quote from Manning for £1,257 told Locktons that and they came in at £1,156 which i think is a good deal.

Stuart, the buying bit was easy. Stuart was okay to deal with, he was quite new to Ferrari at the time. Sale went through quickly, probably too quickly TBH. I was keen, he was keen.
The car however, was... well looked okay but had lots of niggly issues. I never saw the supposed 190 point check, despite asking on several occasions. I posted a long list of problems I had with the car within hours of getting it home, after 180 mile return trip.
I believe they strategically didn't collect the car back until 6 weeks later. Watering down my ability to refuse the car and get a full refund. When they took the car back they had it for 6 weeks and this is during the summer, so when I most wanted it. When it was returned not everything was resolved. Body repair they had to do was done sub standard. During the 6 weeks they had the car, I did send them a rejection letter where they did lend me a GTC4 Lusso for a week as I needed a Ferrari for the CS Cotswold run, as a pacifier. During the time they had the car, when contacting the service department to get updates on progress, they NEVER returned calls until I really started to complain. You always got reception and the service person was always with a customer, yeh right. Okay, please ask them to call back as it's very important. No return call. It always ended with me calling sales to rant and then I would finally get a call back to update on progress. Shocking outfit.

In all whole thing was a disaster, I didn't sell it back to them. Sold it SOR as I want to try and get the max return, when I say return I mean minimise my loss. Which was £18k over 12 months. But actually if I really look at it, taking into account the time they had the car and the time it was SOR in the showroom, I only really had the car 9 months. Dream was shattered.
Having the 458 was supposed to be the pinnacle of my Ferrari ownership. Last one I was going to buy.
Well.. maybe the last I will ever buy
