It was really interesting having the tyres fitted at the Pirelli Performance Centre in Burton, the summary is itís a fantastic place, highly recommended! Gareth was the chap I was dealing with and he was superb.

They have some clever tech I have not seen before where as they drive into the workshop they scan your tyre tread to give an accurate level of tread depth on your tyres.

Interestingly although my geometry was a little out, and I have the data sheet from that, they said that the tyre wear was reasonably even for a car if the this type so they didnít recommend making any adjustments.

The whole process was professional, technically competent and all at a competitive price (even against mail order fit yourself type places like Camskill). A tangible benefit of being a member of the Ferrari Owners Club, giving that deal of £100 cashback with 4 tyres. Total cost was £979, reducing to £879 when taking into account the £100 pre paid fuel card they send you.

Regarding Adrianís question on the P-Zeroís, Iíve only ever run that tyre on this car, and they feel great. I drive with confidence/commitment(!) and I have no complaints. I also run it all year round and that too has been ok, although I would love to try a set of winters when itís cold. The tyre wear was ok too, 30k miles done on the fronts and 15k miles done on the back. Iím sure many people will and do swear by the Michelin Pilot Sport 4ís, not tried them, Iím sure they are good too, but I do have confidence in the OEM chassis signed off tyre. Tyre development programmes for manufacturers are huge sign off events, tyres are not chosen lightly and experts far more experienced and talented than I make the decisions.

All in all, a very rewarding visit to the Pirelli place, and on my Ďniceí cars I wonít be going anywhere else in the future.

No idea when this place was set up but I can see references to it online stretching back to 2017.

Annual service time for the trusty, but not without issue, 360.
I didnít take any photos yesterday at the service as I was shut away in Samís office (with complimentary Tunnocks Caramel bars!) with my laptop using his WiFi working, but this pic is from a previous visit for context.

The service was a basic annual, £600 inclusive, but as ever there is a list of required jobsÖ.
First to be addressed will be discs and pads all round including the handbrake pads. The rear discs and pads is an interesting one because I changed the rears at 149k in May 2019 and they need doing again after 27k miles. The front discs were on the car when I bought it at 145k. Iíve always thought that rear brake discs out lived fronts by some margin, so seems, for this car, not to be the case.
Next required job is the CV boot from the left hand output from the gearbox, this is not split but has deformed due to heat from the exhaust because the heat shields are way past their best. So itíll be a pair of new heat shields and a CV Boot.
CV Boot and a pair of heatshields (it appears that the Maserati heatshield is the same part number but about £30 each cheaper):

Iíll get this lot done first but next on the list is various ball joints and the front anti roll bar drop links.
Sam did comment on my rusty front springs but they will be fine until I get a crack on the bottom coil where they flatten out in the spring cup (that tends to be the failure mode - and itís not a critical failure).
Another bit of significant information from the service was the oil level pre oil change. After 10,500 miles and not adding any oil in that time it was registering just on the min level on the dipstick. I still find this pretty remarkable that it doesnít need an oil top up in 10k miles.
Glad to have it serviced and throughly checked over as next month we will be taking it to the south of France.
