Yep !
Installed Fabspeed Headers on my F430. I had them Cerakoted Glacier Black, along with the Cats too.
It didn't take long for my Parking Brake Cables to be affected by the heat. However I will add that they were already past their best as prior to the Header swap the Parking Brake was not the smoothest operator !
Anyway, instead of going down the Blanket route I tried something a little different.
As the Cables were being replaced I ordered some "Design Engineering Aluminium Heat Sheath Sleeving".
I asked the tech at the dealership to slide these over the Cables while he was installing them.
The product is designed to reflect over 1000 Degrees C of Radiant Heat.
Ample protection for the job in hand !
And so far so good.
Since doing this back in 2016 I have covered approx 10,000 miles. This includes three track days, and two 3000 mile trips around Europe - which included mountain passes (good way of getting your engine really hot !) and the heat of Italy.
As it stands right now the Parking Brake is operating perfectly with cables smooth as butter, and no signs of heat inflicted damage.
The same for the rest of the engine bay.
And the cost of these Sheaths ? £45
In my experience, no you don't need Blankets.
thks Tackleberry where did you source the sheaths from pls ?
You're welcome Rich.
I got it from Demon Tweeks.

I have blankets and with them fitted, noticed a significant reduction in engine bay heat after a long hard run ......... I would worry about the proximity to the fuel tanks![]()
That’s the main reason the headers are insulated along with the tanks themselves. Note there are many other heats around various other components.
I did temperature readings before and after fitting my (coated) manifolds but the other massive reduction in engine bay temps came from them fitting the factory (Tubi Homologated MK4 ) exhaust. I have scuderia vents too which should also be a big clue that the factory knew this was an area that needed attention.
brilliant Tackleberry, just what I thought, Im sure you'll here if I go up in flames, had non oem headers on my 360 Challenge Stradale for 3 years, it was only the Hyperflow cats which got red hot. On a F430 you can simply remove the heat shields in front of the rear grille, its a no brainer

Actually they aren't that either !
They serve no other purpose than to cut glare and reflection in the rear deck lid glass from light coming through the rear grill. Or to be more specific the headlights of cars behind you.
They are shaped so to allow hot air to flow cleanly around them, and having them there or not makes no difference to the level of heat in the engine bay, or how it escapes.
Removing them just means you have the inconvenience of reflected light and glare.
I tried it with them removed. Put them back straight away !
