Great article and gets to the heart of what I hate about some parts of the ferrari scene.

I hate low mileage / value speculation bores at car shows,

I have other suggested alternative names:

    Car Art Collectors, (investment enthusiasts)
Value Sensitive Supercar Enthusiasts, (spend to pretenders)
and GENUINE Supercar Enthusiast Drivers.(hopeless addicts)

Cars that are not driven break more frequently when finally used for many basic engineering reasons.

Ferrari’s ‘fragility’ reputation is largely a result of this.

Ferrari’s testing regimes do not include use once a month and then stand idle for the rest of the time. (Imagine getting that gig as a development driver!)

No one will ever say this at a funeral “loved those cars so much and did so well to keep the mileages down”

I will always remember one of the first Ferrari meets I attended and meeting a chap who was immensely proud of the fact that he had not driven his 246 in something like 6 years. That to me didn't compute at all; why would you not drive it? And I didn't think "What sort of club have I just joined?"

I enjoy driving first and foremost; so to me the delight is putting miles on them

Agreed. Ours sees little use but that's not to keep the miles off, more a case of nowhere to go in it with congested South East roads, along with most of our family & friends living some way off at the other end of many miles of motorway average speed limits. I love driving it and it's a shame I struggle to find an excuse most of the time. It doesn't help working from home so the majority of my use is popping to the gym or a click and collect mission to Toolstation (inspiring I know!).
Let's get this awful year out of the way and hit it big time. Italy is calling and I still want our house in Bordighera...

My employment meant that I had little time to get out and about in previous years and the mileage was very limited but I did spend a lot of time (and money) getting the F355 ‘up to scratch’ ready for this year as I retired at the end of January. Just in time for all ‘scheduled’ events to be cancelled and end up with nowhere to go! The first car event of the year (local show) attended last Friday!

This year is now a right off but, hopefully, next year will be a lot better!

Went to the RAF Cosford Meet yesterday and took both Ferrari’s

My mate and his son went in the 599 and my son and I in the F430 we then swapped rides for the drive home.

These things are for driving, sharing and enjoying.

While the weather is good why not?

V12 has 33k on it and the V8 has 28k (have owned both from virtually new)

Thanks. Like the alternatives. I also have another alternative for the first group that unfortunately can't be shared amongst polite company.
