360 and washing machine sound.

360 runs fine but when I get home after a run and turn the engine off, I get a sloshing sound just like a washing machine less the electric motor hum. Clearly fluids and air moving about big time. Lasts maybe 10 secs and sounds like it is coming from the right side of the engine compartment maybe under the right side engine cover. The car is a manual.

Any ideas what is could be? A pals 360 doesnt make a similar sound at all.

Right side engine cover is the oil cooler.....
Mine made a strange noise after start-up which is air being purged from the cooler.... nothing on shutdown though.

Car is a spider so I guess the sound is likely to be different with the rear end of my friends coupe.

I've been reading through the workshop manual and trying to identify pipes and tubes. The oil vapour trap feeds vapour into the inlet manifolds and when the engine is running, these will be a bit below atmospheric plus of course the scavenge pump will be pushing oil upwards into the tank below the trap. As soon as the engine stops, the pressure will be atmospheric and the oil in the cooler will start to drain into the sump sucking air from the maniflods and oil from the seperator. Hence the sloshing sound. Maybe?

Does this sound reasonable to you?

I used to have a Norton Commando with a similar dry sump lube system. It had to be fitted with and anti drain valve to prevent all the oil going down into the sump when stood. There doesnt seem to be on eon the 360.
