308 respray

Hope it is completed properly this time. Have you an indication of what "long job" means? :)

Do you know if Furlonger's did the work themselves or did they sub it out? I see they offer "restoration" services but can't see pics of their prep bays or oven on their website.

Estimate is “up to 6months”

Not sure if done in house or farmed out.

Cycled over to Classic Car Lab this morning to see how they were progressing, given they want a payment from me this week. :hmmm:
Had a chance to have a good talk with the guy actually doing the work without the boss being there and have to say he gives me the right vibes coming across as a calm patient fella who has pride in his work. He explained some of the issues and what they intended to do, biggest thing was that they have not yet found any unexpected horrors.:sunny:

When I get the chance I will post up photos.

The 308 is now nearing completion at CCL and whilst on holiday last week the first coats were applied, although still just the base grey stuff which needs to 'cure' for a couple of weeks apparently.
My photos are not that far up to date and show the car up to the point of paint stripped back to bare metal.

I owe you all an apology as its last July since I last posted an update, very remiss of me.
I saw the car yesterday and after having had the car since last Feb they will be bringing her home tomorrow.
Unfortunately she will have to stand for some time for the paint to 'cure' before the ceramic coating is applied. Its going to drag.....
So here are some of the photos taken since my last post.

These really are great looking cars and yours has turned out a treat.

I note your rear bumper looks like US spec but its a right hand drive car.

I initially thought the same. I think the QV models came with the rubber surround but traditional Euro spec bumper. The US bumper is more substantial and prudes further from the car.

Ive done a bit of a story for the Yorkshire FOC so Ive shown it here. Gives more detail & info.

David, great write up, and thanks for sharing.

Its always disappointing the number of cowboys out there these days, but you now have something to be truly proud off!

(I also like driving without all the electrical aids. Why they have gone to electric button operated handbrakes I'll never know...I like my handbrake turns in the snow )

308 Respray

What a great thread. I will keep a note of all this, as mine was done to be presentable, while I ironed out any mechanical and electrical issues, but knowing that it would need done again properly in a few years time.
