Monaco

Rascasse or Mirabeau. Neither cheap but very close to the action.

Casino is a great place to spend the Friday. It's easy to scamper out for beers between practice and qualifying, plus they have the support races you can watch too.

Thank you. Going to the Historique, so tickets aren't bad; but creeping up.

Thought we would go see before it becomes too popular!

When we did Historic I don't recall seats being allocated in which case the top of K was good so you could see everything in front and then the start straight over your shoulder - it looks a bit more precise now

There look to be lots of dodgy brokers - this is the official organiser site https://www.formula1monaco.com/

Thanks Jo’s.

I think this is part of the “everything retro car” is becoming very popular and people are looking to cash in!

Thought we would go before it gets even worse!

Will probably get a grandstand ticket (k v or t2) for one day and wing it on a second day with general admission! (I’m guessing general is available on the day) Cheers for the link; I’d found that via the Monaco auto club.

That was a good trip. Must have another dinner if everyone is around!

Went to Monaco classic last year with my wife. Great event. Going back in 2020.

Grandstands - first day we sat in grandstand T from late afternoon with a view into the pits. Saturday B in casino square (it is probably the most iconic view in motorsport). Sunday race day K for the day sit lower left on the map above as that’s where the barriers get some action if they overkook it, then upper middle to take in that amazing Panoramic view.

Plenty of space and the grandstands were never full. Friday less than 30 people in T as it’s an arrivals day for most. Saturday B at casino was probably 50% full. Sunday was busier but not terribly so there was even space under K grandstand when it rained.

I also attended spa classic the weekend after but with a mate (including tourist laps at lunchtime). That was understandably more accessible in the pits and pit lane with GA tickets. Probably 10% of the size crowd at Monaco.

We did Grand Prix D’Or at Dijon in the spring this year. Positively deserted compared to the others and great racing.

Peter Auto arrange all three I think. They certainly lay on some historic cars to watch at these iconic circuits and the race field appears to be tuned to the circuit with F1 at Monaco and endurance race cars at Spa/Dijon.

Monaco Tips
- cafe du Paris is the spot for lunch, but over the race weekend the terrace is hospitality-only so they sit you inside or under cover (great if it’s raining). We went in Saturday lunchtime and just asked the waiter to move us to the terrace, it’s a set 3 course menu, they simply invited me to the reception desk and registered us on a spare hospitality ticket for the cost of the set menu. Bit of a faff but who cares if you get to sit in that iconic setting with the smell of racing fuel and oil mixing with your lunch and aperitif whilst the boys and girls whistle past in those historic racers.
- pits, open access to the main one behind grandstand T along the harbour. It’s a busy corner thoroughfare and the pickpockets were around quite a bit.
- pickpockets. Yep saw them a lot. Large group at the station as each train came in, plenty of police around but didn’t appear to make any difference even when we pointed them out.
- water taxi is a good route to get around the different harbours as Monaco has a lot of elevation changes if you walk around.

Will post some pics once I learn how the forum works.
