Adrian's 355 musings

They did swap over to Brembo on later cars but as far as I am aware there doesnt appear to be a specific ...from chasis no etc (may be wrong).

To futher complicate things people often replace teh eraly Teves with Brembo when the dust seals need doing due to teh difficulty of obtaining the seals.

There are two types on the 348 and two types on the 355! No idea on when they swaped over! Benefit to brembos is the seals are readily available; you can get the Teves seals but hard to find and expensive when you do. I dont know what the second type on the 355 is; other than the fact that the pistons are slightly larger than the brembos; but at least ferrari have the seals.

all nice and simple.

Things I learnt today:
1) Brembo seals come in packs of two;
2) Brembos on the 355, each csliper has two 36mm pistons and two 40mm pistons!

Can anybody guess how many extra seals I have; having measured my pistons and thinking they are all 40mm?

Another engineer I would like to meet!!!!!!

PS Anybody needing 40mm seals, I have some spare!

Thre like that on the front and back - same as 348.

Another youve learnt today - Brakes International do kits which as a guess are a lot cheaper!

Its into Switzerland this year!

What awesome roads, dead smooth and generally empty! Saw one pothole and almost stopped to take a picture !!! Even the single tracks are better than our roads!

Just got to mind their little curbs that are everywhere!

Curbed my rims! Likely take them to a local that specialises in powdercoating magnesium rims; but welcome thoughts and experiences.

That looks great, I'm driving the Furka Pass in two weeks time in the 355, was there much traffic about?

Nope; as Susten pass was closed we ended up doing it twice!!

Both times basically empty! Met a guy at the hotel and he said; heard you coming for the past 10 minutes!!!

West side is a blast, plenty of overtaking opportunities if you need them. Going down the east side is scary! Shear drop for about 1000 feet and narrow corners. Going up if fine, except those narrow bends!

obligatory hotel pic! you can see some of grimsel in the background of the other! also a cracking pass!

We're planning on doing the Nufennen pass east to west, then back up the Furka pass on to Lucerne, hopefully all roads will be open by then

I drove the Furka, then Susten and Grimsel as a triangle in 2018.

Furka was great going up from the southwith good barirers but I found ita bit scary over the top with sheer drops and minimal barriers. I have no head for heights.

I really loved the Susten. Much more sweeping bends and really pretty landscape. This was my favourite bit of the route.

The Grimsel was good with lots of cuttings through rocks for a good echo of the engine noise, but not particularly pretty.

Just my tuppence.

Mentioned that in my later post. Yes the east, or I called it north, side is really scary. I drove it at about 30mph in the middle of the road! The so called barriers wouldn't stop anything if you went off line .

St Bernard pass today. Up and down both sides. Had it all to ourselves; great fun!!!

(hand brake on and in gear; checked twice!!)

Just realised I have a pic of my yellow 355 in the same place as your first - didn't recognise it in the snow! Wow, that was 9 years ago now. Where does the time go?
