Can we push the site now, tell more people about it on other forums. Would be blooy helpfull if we had the ferrari related name sorted out.
I guess getting a name is the number 1 priority at the moment and it also happens to be the hardest one to do.
My personal opinion is to have two names.
An official sounding name like "Ferrari Enthusiats Club" ... FED (just an example
) for the name of the actual organisation. This would have it's own separate stand alone website with links to the forum.
And a more catchy "brand name" for the forum. eg: fgear.co.uk which would be easy to market and promote.
I'm in the process of creating a business plan for the orgainsation which will contain more info. Parts of it will be avialbel to view to members in the next few weeks.

Just a small concern over disk space, with 100 users and all these pictures we are soon gonna eat it up. Are we still on the 300MB database, or have we switched already to the 1GB? Do we have have an expansion plan beyond 1GB if we start to push the site?
I'm currently drawing up contingency plans with costings for expansion which wil be inserted into the business plan.
If the existing site begins to slow down, we can easily transfer it Leep's server.

As for promoting the site, my personal choice would be through word of mouth rather than just advertising to let anybody on. If we only invite people on that we know or have met, it should stop the trolls. OK, the site will grow less quickly, but I think it will be for the best. Just my 2p worth.
We've currently got a few sponsors and advertisers lined, so we have to have an open forum. I'm afraid trolls are just a part of forum life. Although now they will at least be confined to the Lounge area and not in the Ferrari section.

This is why I "want my cake and eat it" and suggest nipping onto f-chat for an "info-raid" if need be. Any still banned members should be able to rely on friends here to research anything they need from f-chat.
Fchat is probably one of the best online Ferrari resources available and it's not something that we can compete with or should compete.
Our forum here is more about Ferrari life in the UK. Meets, parts, local advice etc. I don't see why most of can still visit the tech sections. Ideally this his forum should be used in conjunction with fchat.

It might be worth getting in touch with a decent independant who could become our "expert" on used car values. The other site never had that it was always just our opinions rather than hard facts.
I think dealers would be biased. Besides, all we need is a copy of glass's Guide. :wink3:

I dont know why ,maybe because of the aggro on the darkside but the standard of posting seems to have gone up to another level ,Not so much p--s takinging and crap posting ,seems we are frieindlier bunch , the banter is nicer .
I think the main reason is that we have created extra sections to cater for everybodys needs. In fchat we all had to post in one UK section. Here, we have over 20 sections.

grahamS mentioned opening a bank account for [what ever we are] so if this is done and everybody sends £10 or more we can buy more space for the site if it works like that i dont know but am more than willing to contribute so can somebody explain how you get more space please as i am sure most people will contribute
All financila details will be posted in the next few weeks. I'll also be putting up some polls end of this week to determine what members want from this site.

We should keep raiding FChat for new members
In other words, when you see some you know there posting, just PM them the address of this place
We cannot condone such actions. I am sure people will find out about us through word of mouth.

I wouldn't mind seeing a forum for dealers, local UK specialist dealers dropping a few adverts - after all, on fchat, we always had to ask many many times to find out who was a local specialist to a particular area, and secondly, it was always down to us to locate cars at dealers for other fchatters, so why not help fund the site by allowing some dealers to post/sponsor this site?
Good idea. We'll see what we can do.
