No more free F1 from 2019

Surely if there is an illegal stream there has to be a legal source ? Someone somewhere is providing that feed and they would not be doing it unless they could monetise :hmmm:

The illegal streams are inundated with ads and pop-ups. They're pretty awful to watch to be fair and some of them are just laptops with camera facing a TV showing the matches / races.

All Premiership matches are televised and shown free in many other countries in Far East and USA I believe.

Premiership football is a cheap as chips in the US via cable.....no real demand for it whereas here we now have BT & Sky bidding against each other.

Cancel your Sky Sports and move to Plusnet. If everyone did it, it would be free within 2 years....

Isn't Plusnet cable TV ? Out in the sticks we don't have that option

I have Sky & BT but they only show a handful of games per week.

Not sure about that! It's usually somebody feeding their own Sky feed to a web server streaming service

Yes there are legal streams it's just that they're only broadcast to other countries, the pirates are streaming footie from Norway, the middle east etc. so not only do you get free footie you can also learn a foreign language  although I'm not sure that the chant "the referees a w****r" in Norwegian is going to help with a visit to Oslo:laugh:

...
A full monopoly over viewing is unfair and they'll take advantage. I admire your view on piracy, especially on music & film but in this case, it's just not the same.
...
It's no different whatsoever. You aren't paying for a service that you are using. Quit trying to justify it by boohooing about the evil capitalist oppressors :)

If people stop watching it, maybe F1 will burn itself out and an alternative formula might spring up taking everything back to its roots...who knows.

It's completely different - who has complete monopoly over music & film ?? No one - you can buy, stream or download it from a huge amount of companies and that is apparent by the low prices now - this thread is about Sky having the full viewing rights to F1, which is wrong.

I'm not actually streaming F1 as you say - I'm just pointing out that I would consider it if Sky get full coverage and then abuse this with outrageous charges.

I ditched my Freesat Linux box yesterday. Gave it to a colleague/pal at work. In exchange he put Kodi on my Firestick (which I have bought purely for Prime when Clarkson and co air).
I noticed a stream for F1. I saw Damon Hill on a talk show for about 40 seconds then he went into suspended animation

In a World where the Internet hosts the dark web, child porn, terror, racism, hatred, religious intolerance, fraud, hacking, cyber warfare, bullying, grooming... should I continue…?!! watching a stream of a race that's freely available to millions of others who aren't targeted for living in Murdoch's UK really isn't that big a deal is it. Nobody's trying to justify it, perhaps we simply don't care

Haven't you got sky go?that way you can watch it on the Isle if Wight. has electricity reached the island yet:hmmm::hmmm::tongue3:

god forbid I would suggest this but.................if 1 person has a sky account you can then have 4 separate devices on sky go.

now, if I use my mother's sky account on my laptop to access skygo, and stream onto my tv via an hdmi cable.....I could watch subscription sky channels for free on my large tv

so all you need is an old laptop for the pay channels and use your old sky box for day to day stuff......

monthly cost £0

You can only have 2 devices on Sky go, and your mobile would count as one. You can pay extra to add more. I also understand, if you plug a hmdi lead into your laptop the sky stream will stop but not tried it.

It might be £0 to you, but your mum is still paying. Sky Go is good though if you have a second home and don't want to pay out for two sky accounts ..... well, as long as your second home is In the U.K. Also good for kids at Uni, who can have a sky feed to their laptop.

So cost to you is 0 and cost to you mum is £600? pa:hmmm:

one of the reason's for not paying Sky is that we in the UK pay more than some EU countries and the faceless ***** in the commission support it:mad:

skygo extra lets you have 4 devices - and I don't think we pay extra for it

also perish the thought of using a ip address mask .......to show you are in the uk when you really are in the spain :hmmm:

as they say, where there's a will there's a way.

F1 is only following the same model at the Premier League are following where the hardcore core supporters are being crapped on from a great height in the chase for a global TV audience.

Trouble is given all the chat on here about illegal streams and how readily people will do that why should Bernie and the F1 circus show any loyalty to you at all?

As someone who relies to a degree on copyright integrity for my living i cannot stand how many people are prepared to try to justify why they will thieve something that doesn't belong to them in a heartbeat yet if someone did that to your livelihood or imagine your car you would be incensed.

I don't lose any sleep over F1 personally as being and ex-kart racer it is about as far away from real Motorsport as I can imagine.

Bingo.

Genuine question then - do you see why some just don't see flappy paddles, hybrid quiet fuel efficient engines, turbos ....... advancement if you like....... as something to be relished or celebrated? I actually feel the same about the road cars. Sometimes I think it's a shame you can't strip away the technology and go back to this, I know you can't but it's a pity:

Edit: Just watched the GP on Sky. No I don't like paying as much as I do for it but that's what it costs. As all sports migrate off 'terrestrial' tv you'll pay someone somewhere for it all.

For me the big point is that no large corporation shows any concern for the hoi poloi, I'm quite happy to "rip off" any of these large corporations, tough if you don't like it, I wouldn't rip off a small organisation or individual, but BE and Murdoch are fair game.
