360 Epernay road trip

MBL

New member
I am doing my first ever European road trip in the Ferrari (360 spider) in May June. I didn't think I should be too ambitious the first time out so we are just going to Epernay. We will obviously stop at the Reims circuit for the obligatory picture, but I am struggling to come up with an interesting route down. We arrive on the tunnel on the 29th May and are booked at a hotel that night in Epernay. I was planning to get away from Calais on the A26 and then dive off on to some nicer roads (if I can find them) after Cambrai or St Quentin.

Any suggested routes and general advice would be much appreciated. I will of course post pics on my return.

Thanks

Love Reims, have always used it as a staging post for many foreign trips.

Nice Mussel dishes in the restaurants

"The Worlds Best Off Licence" is a must visit if you like your champagne. 'Caves De Sacred' is in the square right outside the Reims Cathedral where the French Royalty were married and crowned. They specialise in 'bin-ends' from all the surrounding Champagne houses as well as the test-marketing limited editions and the like.

We always fill up on the way back from most euro journeys

You had previously posted that you would avoid France at all costs.

Indeed I have but back when it wasn’t a supercar hating U.K. Brexit retribution policy wielding traffic cops I have been known to stop en-route. Hence the recommendation for a traveller who said he was only going to France.

I haven’t been there myself for years (except going in the tunnel and turning left to get into Belgium ASAP.

The price of French Autoroutes is clearly ridiculous but thousands of middle class brits seem to love it.

I may well be a hypocrite again to see Ferrari at Le Mans but it would be in and out like a good bank job.
