Recoring OEM 430 Cats

does anyone else do this besides Fabspeed pls, I think I should recore mine after 15 years and 30k miles, would love some 200 cell HJS cats inside the OEM casing??

So very pleased to report that I am working with Gert at Carnewal whom has his own serious workshop. He recored my Porsche Cats 8 years ago with HJS 200 Cell items very hopeful for a solution in the next couple of weeks

I am also revisiting the Novitec Fuchs rear X tail pipes that I first bought in 2014 and subsequently sold. Need to get the car ready for its annual visit to Italy in July

Sounds promising.

Must confess, when I wanted to update my cats on the 348 I just went for a straight swap and took the OEM out and put in 200 cell Nouvalari cats. Vast improvement in emissions over the old tech. They don't look quite the same but they're very much tucked away so it doesn't notice much. The OEM items are pretty heavy compared to the Nouvalari cats so I was happy to get some weight off the rear end anyway which along with a much lighter exhaust (and my car is a front battery car anyway) makes a positive difference to a 348's handling. I've kept the OEM cats so they could go back on for originality (won't in my ownership but will stay with the car) but I can see the appeal of recoring the originals to keep everything looking OEM. Interested to hear how you get on.

Keep us posted on this as Carnewal might get a bit of work recoring OEM cats with 200 cel units, especially with owners keen to keep their car "Totally Original" 🤣 .

So my OEM Cats are with Gert, he has constructed a jig and will be upgrading to some new 140mm HJS Euro 6 norm 200 Cell items next week, reinstalling the Ferrari heat shields so that no one will ever notice. the diff betwen Euro 5 and Euro 6 is apparently simply more palladium in Euro 6. Also a comment from Gert is that many after market cats, incl 200 Cell HJS Cats, are smaller in diameter than OEM and for an engine size of 4.3 Litres, this is not very flow efficient.

so I have the re-cored cats back with the OEM heat shields and unless you want to be forensic, with a microscope its impossible to tell they have been recored, unfortunately I cant get them on the car for a couple of weeks as going away, would have helped it FEDX wasnt such a fking nightmare with delivering them but am expecting the F430 to roar!

this process wasnt cheap, incl VAT circa EUR 4k but I am totally convinced it is the best solution possible, as all other non OEM replacement cats are much smaller in diameter with cheaper HJS cats with less flow

I have had the car since new in 2009, and planning on keeping for at least another 15 years, whilst meanwhile my 360 CS, 430 Scuderia and 991 GT3 RS have all come and gone

Out of curiosity why do you think that is? Do you think the 'raw' more track focused variants look good on paper but in reality are less useable in everyday life and on the road?

Recoring the OEM cats with HJS Eur 6 Norm 200 cells was expensive @ 4k due to their extreme diameter but boy was it worth it for the sound

I went through the process of finding new cats for my CS last year and I don't think 4k EUR is out of the question when you look at what some of the aftermarket options cost.
