It is the original colour and the car has never been changed out of it which is rare.
:dude: must be ultra rare colour still
Iain, I drooped my car off with a specialist Saturday and there was a Yellow Dino on the ramp that they are restoring. It was supposed to be a rare car ?? the story goes like this
There were 3 cars kept back by the factory to be used at Le mans but they never used them, this car was one of them ? I know he brought it as a shell and has had to find / make a lot of parts for it.
Sound about right ?
The owner of the car was there working on it and he had quite a collection  and he showed me the chassis number in a big Dino book so sounded right.
The honest answer is that I have no idea Paul. It sounds like it could be a romantic made up story but you never know. The last GT version built in January 1974 was chassis number 07650 which came to the UK. After that car a further 305 GTS versions were built with the final 17 built in June 1974 all going to to the US.
The only car shown to have entered Le Mans in the Dino Compendium book is a heavily modified 246 GT in race trim, chassis number 02678, which was ordered by Luigi Chinetti the US importer and entered in the race under his NART team.
I will get the Chassis number off him and PM you, The guy who owned seamed very genuine and down to earth type of guy so i have not reason to doubt him but still would like to know.
And here is the first one which completed it's second restoration a couple of weeks ago.

Hi Paul,
You've been to see Gary Tate then! thats Brian Smiths car, Gary is slowly assembling the car piece by piece, if it's not brand new then it has to look brand new before it can be fitted, lovely clean project, the story is genuine, Brian is quite a collector.
