roll back - how to avoid pls help

As per title.

I am used to driving Porsche and other cars with PDK type gearing.

I just can't seem to get used to the, what seems to me to be old fashioned automatic car, roll back when you're on an incline.
My Porsche used to always automatically hold and i NEVER used the electronic brake, even when parking, i just used to stop the car and get out.

When I park the Cali, I have got used to braking, when i stop and leaving it in gear, i.e. not putting into neutral and then switching off the ignition, this then caused the car to hold so its set in park mode.

Whilst i am driving and if i rest at the lights or at a RAB, find it hard to know what to do to avoid rolling backwards, is there a setting for auto hold or something like this or what can i do to prevent this from happening.

I know i have not explained this really well but I am hoping somebody can help me on this before i roll down the hill backwards :(
