They are probably right. The huge increase in vehicles that attract no VED or the lowest rate is the problem.

From the graph you can see that the income is likely to drop dramatically over the next few years if nothing is done.

At least they haven't gone for a solution that increases the take from VED over the next few years. It is going to settle out at roughly 2010-2011 levels.
 
The big losers will be people that buy for example a 520d because they think they're doing their bit for the environment. That's the type of car that the VED will go up by nearly 400%.

Which, as petrolheads, is exactly the type of nasty 4-cylinder diesel we would avoid anyway [emoji6]
