Indicator Flasher not working

Angelis

The indicators stopped flashing this afternoon.

Although the indicator light comes on, it does'nt flash.

I had the same problem a few months back and the garage tech pulled out a fuse/connector (from under the sterring wheel I think), wiped it clean and popped it back in and the lights were working again with no problems.

I've had a look under the steering wheel and all I could see is this fuse/socket, circled in the pic below.

Is this what I need to disconnect and clean?

Sy,that's the micro switch for the rear brake lights.
The fuse for the indicators is located in the passenger side footwell beneath the footrest, the manual says it's also the same fuse for the reversing lights.
Check that the reversing lights are working,if they are It'll be something else.

Sy, I saw your left side indicator not flashing at one point after we left box hill. I also saw that your left hand dipped beam was on as well. This was only for about 20 secs or so and then they went off. When you used the indicator again it seemed OK.

I was switching it on and off by hand all through the trip home.

Thanks Steve. I'm going to check it in the next few days.

My RH indicator's going mad , clicking 10 x faster than usual. Verdi says one of the bulbs on that side has gone. Check your bulbs, m8 :) Little gardening tip thrown in as well

Bulbs are ok.

It was Verdi who fixed it last time. I was upstairs in the office when one of the guys pulled out the plug/fuse, cleaned it and put it back in again. think it's called a flasher unit.

I should have be watching more closely.

Flasher units are big square blocks that'll probably be plugged into the fuse board (when I say big, I mean anything from around an inch cube). They usually have 3 or more pins on the back.

One on my Caterham pops out under acceleration! The connectors aren't always that great and would likely cause what you're getting.

Speedy indicators is always a bulb out :) And on a Daytona, when the red brake warning light comes on when you press the middle pedal, a bulb could be out there too...

IMO this sounds like flasher units has gone, they won't last forever so it's probably that. At least for other cars they are very cheap and easy to change by yourself.

Also check wether they work on hazards,it's a different circuit with a seperate fuse and relay.

Steve, i've checked everything.

1. Indicator lights come on, but don't flash.
2. Reversing lights are working.
3. Indicators flash when the alarm is set.

I'm 100% certain it's the Flasher relay, part number 159265. None in stock in the whole of the UK.

I still can't figure out where it is. I know it's under the dashboard somewhere. Just passenger side and can't see anything there.

Sy,pull off the rubber mat on the footrest, you should see 2 screw like fasteners, undo these and the footrest should swing down,it's hinged at the bottom. The fuses and relays are in there.

Found it.

Turns out the fuse box is upside down compared to what's in the manual.

However, I can't identify which relay it is. I've looked in the manual but it does'nt refer to any flasher relay unit. I've also made sure they are all securely pushed in as well.

Should be easy to find - it's bright blue............................

Looked everywhere and can't find any blue relay.

Manuals don't help either.
